Common Interests
Based on what I've read from my classmates websites, the majority of the students have a similar interest for taking the course. When it comes to the common usage of media, here are the observations that I noticed:
Social Media: The majority of the class uses Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. A handful of students use Reddit but nearly no one listed Tumblr as a social media outlet.
IM: Not too many folks use Discord in this class but people commonly use Facebook Messenger to keep in contact with people.
E-mail: G-mail is one of the most widely used e-mail applications in the entire class.
TV/Movies: A lot of people use Youtube to watch gaming channels, informative channels, find music, and listen to podcast. It's a large platform that holds so many multipurpose channels with diverse content.
Music: I don't use Spotify to listen to music but it turns out the majority of the class does. However, there was at least one or two students that listed that they used Soundcloud to listen to music, which surprised me. I didn't expect a lot of people to use Soundcloud since it's mostly used for hosting independent music.
Gaming Applications/Games: Most of the class does play video games and use similar gaming platforms to the ones I use based on the kinds of games they play. A few students listed similar games that I also play that I didn't list since I currently don't play them.
The main reason why I didn't sub-list the kind of media that I use is because I was more interested in the platforms/apps that people use rather than the kind of content they consume.
